What's new?

New Web Policy and Web Publishing Guidelines now approved

Fri, 19 Mar 2010 05:13:20 +0000

A new Web Policy (PDF 304KB) and an accompanying set of Web Publishing Guidelines were approved in January 2010 and became effective in February 2010. These were developed as a direct outcome of the Web Services Review and, in particular, Objective 3 of the Web Services Strategic Action Plan. The policy and guidelines replace a number of existing documents that were long overdue for review and represent both minimum standards through mandatory requirements as well as best practice in web services by recommending others.

Anyone at UTAS who has published, or who is intending to publish, content on any public website established for, or owned and maintained by, UTAS is required to comply with the Web Policy (PDF 304KB) and the mandatory requirements of the guidelines.

The Web Publishing Guidelines (PDF 765KB) are available from the Policy website or from the University Web Services website: Web Publishing Guidelines.

If you want help in interpreting either the policy or guidelines and/or advice on how to improve your website to meet the guidelines then please contact Univeristy Web Services through the IT Service Desk

A new blog for Web Services!

Tue, 02 Feb 2010 06:13:22 +0000

Welcome to the new Web Services blog

We will use this space to keep the UTAS community up to date on the latest activities in the Web Services Review as well as tips & tricks for those of you managing websites or using social media (Web 2.0) applications.

Things are well underway with the implementation of the new web content management system (CMS). The product we chose, MySource Matrix, is proving to be a fantastic tool for managing sites. Several new sites have gone live in the last couple of weeks including the Vice-Chancellor’s Leadership Award, Online Orientation and the Australian National Network in Marine Science. Several more are due to go live this week & next.

We are also working on a new, contemporary & innovative design for the home page that will be an exciting change for UTAS. More to come on that soon … . Planning is also underway for the transition from the current Faculty Content Management System (FCMS).

For more information on our activities please contact webservices@utas.edu.au.
